2-8 ~ The Impossible Divide 2.7 ~ How & Why The Counterculture Buttered Mr. Peanut

Given everything I have written, I have to imagine that I have bored a large number of readers on what has been a long-winded political history lesson with my viewpoints scattered throughout. Especially considering how my blog was originally about my mental/emotional issues and how the world around me seems intent on destroying me, it does seem a bit off-base to be talking about the political past of Squelchistan and how it affects me in my life as of current. Oh well, that’s life in a nut-shell; one cannot fully plan ahead for all of the detours and the road conditions. At any rate, before I move on to this blog post, here is the recap on the series about the Counterculture ideology thus far: Part 1 – Counterculture Territories Part 2 – Why The Counterculture Came To Be Part 3 – The Beat Society Connection Part 4 – The No-Jesus Club Part 5 – The Dumpster Fire That Smelled Like Nag Champa Part 6 – When Krakatoa Met Vesuvius & Erupted In The 1970s Now that we have th...

2-7 ~ The Impossible Divide 2.6 ~ When Krakatoa Met Vesuvius & Erupted In The 1970s

Yeah, I know. I left everyone with a bit of a cliff-hanger when it came to the previous blog post. Though for those Squelchistanis who tend to know a thing or two about the recent history of the nation (and by that I mean everything that has happened from the present moment going back 60 calendar years, as per cultural influences at any given time), it isn’t really a cliff-hanger. However, since most Squelchistanis don’t care too much about the past, or if they do they have a highly idealized view of what it looked like, I may as well update everyone on how it probably was in actuality, and in this next blog post I will be talking about the decade in which the Counterculture ideology erupted as if Krakatoa and Vesuvius went off at the same time, hence the title of this blog post. But before I get started there, I may as well provide a recap for those short on memory… Part 1 – Counterculture Territories Part 2 – Why The Counterculture Came To Be Part 3 – The Beat Society Connect...

2-6 ~ The Impossible Divide 2.5 ~ The Dumpster Fire That Smelled Like Nag Champa

By now, I have done much to cover the formations of the Counterculture back in the 1960s, in as many details that I can without driving everyone a bit batty. It was a necessary thing to do in order for people to understand why they functioned the way they did, though many people may correctly say that they didn’t function at all (which in hindsight may be more accurate than most people would like to admit). At any rate, I may as well provide the recap links… Part 1 – Counterculture Territories Part 2 – Why The Counterculture Came To Be Part 3 – The Beat Society Connection Part 4 – The No-Jesus Club But now comes the critical point in the history of the Counterculture ideology: how they managed to take over the Democrat political party, at least to the point of maintaining majority control. And as virtually anyone who knows a part of Squelchistani history during Generation X (1960-1979 by my definition), it was an incredibly turbulent takeover. \-\-\ It’s hard to really ...
