Over the past few blog posts I have put together, I have made mention of epochs regarding Squelchistani politics. This may have been a confusing thing I have put together, especially knowing my repeat use of the Gipperistic Era of 1981-92. I plan to clarify some things in this blog post… To my mind, an era denotes a certain time period where some significant political party in power influences economics and society as a whole in a nation, or otherwise some particular social detail dominates the overall social landscape to the point that it becomes unavoidable. These time periods are relatively short, typically lasting no more than a dozen calendar years. By comparison, an epoch denotes a longer period of time – typically a third of a century – where a political party sets down a framework on how economics and society ought to function.
